PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: After a one-hour roundtable discussion, “Learn from Your Mistakes,” join us as we welcome David J. Beaudin, Supervisor, Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit, Massachusetts Department of Fire Services-Division of Fire Safety for a two-hour seminar on a variety of fire and home safety issues every home inspector should be aware of when inspecting a home. David’s presentation will include how to evaluate smoke and CO detectors, and the varying code requirements governing smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector requirements in one- and two-family dwellings.  He will also address oil line regulations and how to inspect for compliance with the “Oil Line Upgrade Law”.  Concerning dryer vents, he will talk about the fire hazard posed by residential dryer vents. His presentation will wrap up with a discussion of venting clearance to combustibles and lastly, heating and hot water heater make-up air, as it relates to oil burners.  This portion of the presentation will focus on fire code requirements for combustion air and venting of residential oil fired appliances. Don’t miss this opportunity to ask questions you may have about fire safety code compliance issues you’ve observed during an inspection.  Please keep in mind that the June meeting will be our last monthly dinner meeting until after our September conference. Our dinner meeting programs will begin again in on October 24.  Register on line today!
